The DRE Crypt conditional access module (CAM) with option to convert video compression formats from MPEG-4 AVC to MPEG-2 is aimed to broadcasters demanding to switch existing network into bandwidth-saving mode. This module combines the DRE CAS functionality and format conversion making it quite easy to switch for the operators already utilizing MPEG-2 only STBs like DRE-4000 or DRE-5000 or virtually any other CI-equipped receivers in their network. The benefit of the switch into rate-effective mode is as obvious as 18 to 21 channels per traditional 38 Mbps transponder with AVC encoding compared to max 15 channels encoded in conventional MPEG-2 even with most advanced statistical multiplexing or rate-shaping.
The DRE CRYPT MPEG-4 CAM can be kitted with DRE-5500 STB which actually is a revision of DRE-5000 equipped with PCMCIA interface but without internal DRE-Crypt access module.
Main features for DRE CRYPT MPEG-4 CAM:
* DRE Crypt conditional access (smart-card based);
* Decoding MPEG-4 AVC MP@L3.0 video and re-encoding to MPEG-2 MP@ML with accurate TS regeneration;
* Full compatibility with whole line of DRE’s CI-equipped receivers.
Note: this product does not support Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) conversion to MPEG Audio.
